REMTOX - PROTECT & PRESERVE
YOUR ROOFING TIMBERS
For
the eradication of wood boring insects both hardwoods and softwood
to give protection
from fungal decay during the drying out of damp
timbers or applied as a precaution against any future decay
or infestation. The Remtox Microemulsion range of non-flammable
concentrated wood preservatives represents the latest improvement
in a long line of product development of "water-based" timber
treatments.
Microemulsions, as their name implies, have a much smaller
droplet size than emulsion products, which enables them to
penetrate timbers more in the manner of solvents with reduced
run-off and quicker drying.
When diluted they are virtually odourless and carry no EEC
hazard classification symbols. Effective on damp wood, unlike
solvents.
SPECIAL
PROPERTIES
Penetrates wood like a solvent, so could be used on hardwoods,
as well as softwoods. Effective on damp wood, unlike solvents.
1 HOUR RE-ENTRY
Microemulsions MF9 has been cleared by the Health and Safety Executive for re-entry
purposes after 1 hour. This is a reduction of 48 hours over other wood preservatives
and means that if surfaces are dry
householders and occupiers may re-use treated areas after 1
hour. For the builder it also means that following trades can
re-enter areas that much sooner.
PREPARATION
Timbers
to be treated should be clean and sound
and the source of any dampness permanently cured.
ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS
Being purely insect specific with no mammalian toxicity Flurox
is inherently safe to humans, other mammals, fish and birds.
Approved for use in Bat Roosts by English Nature.
WHY FLUROX
Flurox is a new generation of insecticide ideal for the
wood preservation industry. Unlike conventional insecticides
such as pyrethroids, which attack the central nervous system,
Flurox has a fundamentally different mode of action.
HOW DOES FLUROX WORK
In technical terms Flurox is know as a Insect Growth Regulator
(IGR) and, as such blocks the natural life of the insect at
specific stages of development.
Flurox prevents the production of chitin, which is the hard
outer skin of the insect, also known as the exoskeleton. During
the larval stage of the entomological life cycle the larva
moults numerous times as it grows.
Timber impregnated with Flurox will be ingested by the larvae
and thus the moulting process is prevented. The vast majority
of larvae will be eradicated during this process and although
some adults may emerge they will not be able to re-infest the
treated areas.
RR BORON (TIMBOR) RODS
Inorganic Timber Preservative Implants.
Timber Rods are 100% anhydrous Disodium octaborate. They are
designed to be used as implants into vulnerable timbers, such
as joist ends or lintels resting or imbedded in masonry or
in timbers in ground contact, e.g. sole plates, ground cills,
post or poles. Such timbers may be periodically or continually
at or above fibre saturation point of around 28-30% moisture
content. Under these conditions Boron Rods will diffuse rapidly
and distribute preservatives into the surrounding timber. GUARANTEE
As an approved Remtox installer you will have the benefit of
a 30-year Underwritten Guarantee.
